Chitré is a small town on the Azuero peninsula. Its old town remains as a historical group composed of squares, churches and parks. It also has the Museum of Herrera, whose folkloric and ethnographic heritage preserves the wealth, traditions and customs of the province.
Some cultural events that take place in Chitré are Holy Week, the festivities of San Juan Bautista and the carnival. Tourists will find hotels, restaurants of authentic Panamanian cuisine and shops of polleras and local handicrafts.
